One Sleep To Go

This week's quilts were made by Norada. The first is one that Roxanne Carter designed.
This is a cute Geisha panel. Took me awhile to come up with a design for this one. Thread color was tricky too. I did "whale tails" in one of the borders.I'm all packed. Our cat, DC, knows when something is up. She was trying to get me to stay home! I let a couple quilts get out of here without pictures this week. Too many things to think about. Had a nice lunch with Dad today. He was in a hurry when we got back to change his clothes & go help Bob in the greenhouse. Dad has tomatoes coming up. I'm glad he can keep busy with gardening. At least I don't have to worry about any of my plants getting a "Marine haircut" this year!
I'll try & post from CA. For sure for you Facebook followers I'll have some pictures there.
Be back soon............................Nana Sharon

Kaffe Beauty & $5 Quilt

This is a beauty of a quilt using Kaffe fabrics. I think Kathy will be teaching a class at the Granary on this one!
These are from a $5 quilt made by Nancy. I've quilted a few of these & I'm always always amazed at all the different fabrics & block patterns.
You can't have a Northwest quilt without an umbrella! The quilt machine is really buzzing here. I have several quilts to get done before my trip to "Nanaland".
Went to one of my favorite nurseries yesterday & got a start on flowers for the yard. It's so nice to finally see some color!
Hope you all have a great weekend. 5 more days & I'll be in my favorite place!

Hero Quilt Sew Day

A pattern Linda found for us. Wilma with one of her quilts. Betz & Cindy with a Lucky Stars. All from fat quarters & a background fabric. Judeen & Cindy with one of the quilts that came back from a quilter. I think the center of this is a Schnibbles(sp) pattern. Betz & Cindy with another beauty. I think this was a CIQ member's Buggy Barn creation. Oops, I think we are holding it sideways. It was a great sew say yesterday for American Hero Quilts. We had at least 16 turned in finished, ready for delivery. Cindy has 18 at her house ready to go also. Our little group is up to 400+ now since January 2007. Way to go quilters!

Our next sew days are all at the Stanwood Senior Center from 10-4. May 15th,June 26th &
July17th. Stop by & join the fun!

Thank you for all you do.............Sharon

Lovely Weather

Wasn't yesterday beautiful? I couldn't resist a walk on the beach at the State Park. I put the pictures on in opposite order. Oops! The first one is just after the sun went down.
These are the little waves the tugboat in the next picture made. If you squint I think you can see the tugboat. That's Whidbey Island in the background.
Our neighbor called this morning to say they saw at least 2 coyotes this morning on the road in front of the house next door to us. Yikes! We hear them all the time. I didn't think they'd come that close. They must be hungry. I guess we'll be keeping our cat DC in more. She won't be happy. Better that than someones breakfast!
Quilt pictures coming soon. Waiting to deliver.
Getting closer to Nanaland. 13 days & counting...................Nana Sharon

Webshots & Things That Go Bump In The Night

I updated my Webshots this weekend, the October-December 2009 album. How did I get so far behind? Hmmmm let's see, quilting, Dad, more quilting, & Nanaland. Would I have it any other way? Not on your life! Now I'll get working on a January-March 2010 album!

This is the Smooth Sailing quilt from Fabric's Plus in Anacortes. I promised a picture when the "hop" was over. There are more closeups on Webshots. What goes bump in the night? We are not sure. Last night Mr S was talking to me while I was on the computer when we heard what I thought was knocking on our front door or sliding glass door? No one there. It just didn't feel right so we had the sheriffs come out & check it out. 3 officers, flashlights shining everywhere. Nothing. We live too far away from the notorious "Barefoot Bandit's" Mom's house. I hope! I guess we are safe for now.

Quilts are calling. 16 days & counting......................Nana Sharon

Wedding & A Sampler Quilt

It's been like "Flight of the bumble bee" here lately. Custom & more custom. This first quilt is a wedding gift for Marlae's son. All soft natural colors, very nice. Gotta love leaves to keep it neutral!
Kim got her 2009 Sampler from GNO with Roxanne Carter done. The sampler is an "extra" in addition to the monthly pattern at GNO. Way to go Kim!

I must not be awake yet. I should have loaded this picture first. It's always fun to see everyone's color choices. These are great. Heading out to lunch with Mr S soon. Suzy's Place on Camano. Hoping to get a Skype in today with Little Mister. I haven't seen him since Monday.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend. Cool & sunny here. I think we will go the the beach later. I keep hearing about the mother & baby whale. Maybe today I'll get lucky!

A Nice Surprise

Yesterday when I looked to the east this is what I saw. It was a huge double rainbow. Sorry for all of you that got poured on yesterday. It made my day a little brighter! Off to GNO tonight at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop. See you tomorrow with more quilt pictures.

A New Week

Jonne took the Crabapple Hill basket class from me & this is her version all done. I just love seeing what everyone puts together. Don't you?

Meg will be at The Quiltmakers Shoppe in Arlington this summer to teach a class. I think there are still a few openings.

We had a nice early Easter dinner on Saturday with Dad. My sister's both came. Diane brought her grandson Alex, resident funny boy. He spent a lot of his time traveling up & down the elevator getting to know the residents. This is how he said it,"They wanted to know me, so I got to know them." How sweet is that? Another Alex story. He was helping Diane nail some things to her fence & did the usual, hit his finger, etc. He told Diane it was a good thing nobody was looking or else "I would be totally humiliated."

See you later this week........................Sharon

Fidalgo Island Quilt Show

Meet Eva Fox & Margaret Inglese. Eva is a Fidalgo Island quilter & Margaret(her twin sister) is from New Jersey. I spotted this delightful duo yesterday at the quilt show in Anacortes. I asked if I could take their picture for my blog & they said yes, but had to scurry over to their quilt. I am told that they love being twins & wear matching outfits to the quilt show. Don't they look happy? Sorry the picture is blurry. There were lots of fabulous quilts & quilting. Of course I always look at the quilting. some computer, some freehand.

This is a big ribbon heart with lovely quilting. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the whole quilt. For me it's all about the quilting! There's still time to see the quilts, today is your last chance! We are celebrating Easter today. My sisters are both coming up & we are using the family room at the Suites where Dad lives. I'll give you a report tomorrow. Oh, I almost forgot, Dad was his usual lean, mean eating machine last week on our outing. He can really put away the food!
Have a nice Easter! Finally on the countdown. 26 days & counting...................Sharon
