Grandmaland

Greetings from sunny CA! Yes Grandmaland is the best! We got to babysit yesterday. So much fun. Little Mister is giving kisses back when you kiss him & nods his head "yes" , he has 2 teeth & is working on what looks like 3 more.(He wasn't a happy camper last night & kept Mommy up from 12-3). Tonight we are going to the quilt shop where all of his "Aunties" make a bee-line for the door to see who gets to hold him first. Tomorrow we're all going to Golden Gate Park.
Here's the latest pic of our happy boy!
The other pics are Hen & Chicks on steroids. I've never seen them so big. Can you see the 2 ladybugs in the first picture?I'll have more pictures to post once I get home. Sunday night we are staying with my sister Diane & her husband Greg near Medford Oregon.

Talk to you again soon....................... Grandma Sharon

Taming the Beast

I shouldn't call humungo quilts beasts, but after wrestling them on the machine & quilting(what seems like forever) That's what it feels like when you are done! This quilt was made for a friend's friend. The bed is king size with a pillow top. My bed is only queen size with no pillow top, how do I get on my friend's "please make a quilt for me list?"

Anyway here's a peek at one of the blocks. I tried my own version of "Just Leaf It" for the background fill. I'll head over to Webshots & load some more of the pictures for you to look at. The count down is now 3 days left until I'm off to Grandmaland..................woohoo!!!!!!!!

Finally better!

Finally over the bronchitis that I had! Not having to quilt, nap, quilt anymore! This quilt was made by Georgia & Carol for Georgia's DIL. Her father passed & it's a memory quilt made from some of his cowboy shirts. They had me quilt the brand,RGF, used on the ranch. I always enjoy quilting memories for someone!
There are more pics on my webshots. We are on the countdown to Grandmaland. Only 9 days left before we get to Little Mister's! I'll try & post while we are there.
I better get cracking on the quilting.................Sharon

Sicky

Okay, I give. The roller coaster was not going fast enough this time & I caught the worst cold! Several days of resisting I finally went to the Dr & got the good cough syrup & antibiotics & finally am starting to feel half human again!
Here are some more pics of recent quilts. Linda is the stitchery queen. I just love quilting her redwork! The Blooming 9 Patch is Julie's from hand dyed fabrics form Cherrywood. Aren't the colors to die for? She used really cool shaded fabric on the back.
The computer is not liking me this morning. Maybe it's the codeine in the cough syrup. I'll be back soon!

More quilts

It is so good to have this quilt done. Customer Lynn is giving it to her son as a wedding gift. Lucky them. It is 108x108! I have several more quilts to get up on webshots. Maybe I'll go do that right now!

See you later.............................Sharon

Quilt Show & An Outing

The CIQ Quilt Show wrapped up last night. It was a great show, 150 quilts, great vendors, as well as nice displays of Comfort Quilts made by CIQ members for Providence Women & Children's Center in Everett & Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters supporting the American Hero Quilts project for wounded soldiers.

Dad went on an outing to the quilt show. Every year Josephine Suites, where he lives, brings a small group to the quilt show. When he walked into the gym he said "There's a lot of hard work in this room". It was nice to show him all the quilts & watch as he looked closer to see all the detail. It's nice to have a Dad who at 78 still support what you do! The quilt we are standing by is my favorite Blue Hawaii.I better get cracking around here. The laundry is sky high & the way it looks right now, I can't possibly live here!

Happy Easter everyone!

Little Mister Andrew & Life

Little Mister is 6 months old today. Time is really zipping by! I made him the corduroy overalls for Christmas. It has a matching coat that is a bit too big yet. Do you how hard it is to find boy prints on corduroy? I saved a few of my favorite patterns from my garment sewing days. My nephew Gary had a similar outfit from Auntie Sharon. I dare not mention how long ago that was. He's a year older than Joanna if you want to do the math. Out poor little kitty DC got into a scuffle with one of the bully tomcats in the neighborhood a few weeks ago. I can't get her to sit still long enough for a photo, but this sums it up. I don't know the bully cat's name, he is known in the neighborhood as "Shrew Be Gone". He's a good hunter! DC ended up with an abscess, a shaved hind quarter with a 5" long incision! She has been housebound for 3 weeks. Not a good thing for a cat who also loves to hunt!
I better get back to work. It is actually kinda sunny here today. Some places around Tacoma had s......( I just can't bring myself to even write the word) last night. Check out Judy's blog. I helped her add links to her blog on Friday. She has the cutest goat girls eating blackberry bushes in her pasture!
