Snowbound

We're not snowbound here. At least not with the white stuff that keeps piling up back east. the only snowbound here is Anne Sutton's super cute snow ladies from her FREE Snowbound block of the month pattern. Here are my January & February blocks. I am going to use red, white & blue fabrics. You'll see why in a upcoming blog. I found the perfect border fabric in my stash. Imagine that!
I couldn't wait to get going on the setting blocks. One done, twelve to go. Don't miss out on the fun. Come on , it's fun! Look here at what other people are doing. Does it feel like Spring at your house? These snowdrops have been blooming for awhile now & the hyacinths buds are getting fat. Can't wait for them to pop! The snowdrops are from the house in Granite where I grew up. They remind me of Mom. I totally forgot to post this sunset picture that I took on the 17th leaving Seattle. The weather was much nicer here while I was visiting Little Mister.
More quilt pictures to come soon. I have lost my voice from a stupid cold, so I might as well blog!
Have a good weekend everyone!............................Sharon

Little Mister & a Thank You

Where do I start? He is getting so big & is quite the character! This is his toy box, a copper canning kettle, from Great Grandpa Rodney's. Being all boy, his favorite is to shake it on the hardwood floor.Nana found some sunglasses at the Dollar Store that are a big hit. And last but not least a delicious ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery. Thank you Secret Pal. Mmmmmmm good! It's raining here today. We went to The Granary on Thursday night for some quilting fun & to deliver quilts. Friday was SF for some fun at Golden Gate Park.

See you again soon..................Nana Sharon

T minus 8 & counting

Here's a quick post before I go. The first picture is of my Tulip blocks for CIQ. My guild is having a small quilt challenge. The finished pieces will hang at the LaConner Quilt Museum during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival & then be sold as a fundraiser for the museum. More on the dates later.
Secret Pal strikes again. Thank you. Mmmmmm chocolate! Mary Lou Wiedman posted valentines that were her mother's. I always have these out for
V-day at my house. The paper doilie valentine was made by Mom in 1943 & I think given to her Mother. The framed photo was at Dad's & must have been a gift from her when they were dating. Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day! We went to Jasmin Thai for a delicious dinner. Joanna called this morning to tell me about fog, traffic & power outages in her area. All the ferries between Oakland & SF were canceled this morning & traffic was a huge mess due to fog. If that wasn't enough to deal with the power was out in Palo Alto ! Hope the sun burns that fog off fast, this Nana had a grandson to see!
Gotta run, still have a few things left to pack! Leaving for the Airporter soon.

Quilts Delivered

This quilt is so pretty. It was pieced by Jeanie, a new customer. The outside border is peacock feather fabric. I searched the internet for peacock feather quilting & finally found some. Gave it my own twist & had fun! It's hard to see but the large wedges have 3 peacock feathers. This space seemed to big to just do the "Swirly Girly" quilting so I added more peacock feathers. This is Mary C's Thistlepod quilt using a Judy Niemyer pattern. It had me stumped for awhile, but finally the quiting came to me. She's entering it in the QA Quilt Show next month in Monroe.
Can you tell batiks & purple are her favorite? Just a couple quilts to go & it's off to see Little Mister. I better get busy!

Sunset 5:20

This is why I love where I live! I think the boats in the next picture are from the Navy base in Everett. I took these pictures on Tuedsay.
Off to meet with the Sassy's today & deliver some quilts. I'll get some pictures up when I get home.
Little Mister is giving his Mom a run for her money. I called yesterday just to make sure she hadn't put him out on the sidewalk with a "Free" sign. He's cutting 5 molars & is a biting, cranky mess.

A Change Of Plans

I had the best intentions today. Sunset at 5:20, go for my walk at the beach, get some great pictures. GONG! On my way there Bambi was beside the road & what did my camera say "Change the Batteries." Of all the nerve! So, I enjoyed Bambi, walked on the beach & will try again tomorrow if the weather cooperates.
This is Joan's quilt. A faithful Roxanne Carter follower. Love this pattern & I'm glad someone has the patience to piece it! The thread is Fireworks from Superior. Love their threads!

The back of this quilt was screaming for variegated, so I used Fad 5. One of my favorite variegated threads from Signature.

I have been busy working on a couple of things for me. I know, amazing, right? I'll try & "change the batteries" & post again tomorrow.

Catch up

It's hard to see, but the little black speck, is a sea lion that followed me as I walked last week at the beach. The next day I heard the unmistakable bark of a sea lion, but his time he was hiding. I think he was on Whidbey Island across from the park. The water has been so calm & flat lately.
Oh My Scrappy Stars is the name of this quilt. Betz used tons of scraps from her stash to put together this great quilt. Sherry also used scraps for this little gem. Love quilting leaves. The double cross hatch gave it a different look around the outside.
I can't believe it's February already, can you? Have to kick it into high gear now. 16 days & counting.........................Nana Sharon
