Ho,Ho,Ho

Merry Christmas everyone. Not too much going on here. I'm sleeping more at night now. Sometimes 8 hours straight! Mommy & Daddy are real happy to get that much sleep too! I want them to know who's the boss around here so once in a while I get up at 3 to have a snack. I've learned a new cry. It's really loud & usually involves crocodile tears. I think they are on to me though, I'm not getting the reaction I am hoping for. Hmmmmm, I'm going to have to work on that one. Well, back to more eating, sleeping, playing, & haz mat clean up for Mom & Dad (hee, hee, hee). This is the life.
Hope you all have a nice Christmas with your families today.
Until next time.............................Little Mister Andrew

He's almost here

The Christmas cactus is a start from my Grandma Vivian's cactus. When she passed away my Uncle took starts & gave them to all of us one Christmas. I think my Aunt said Grandma had the cactus since 1931! It took a long time for it to bloom & when it does I always think of Grandma. Don't forget to tell people that are special to you how much you love them!

This Santa is from one of our special Hero Quilters. He'll wave at the "big guy" when he swoops in tonight!

Better go set some cookies out!

Andrew will be blogging tomorrow. I am bushed from all the last minute quilting, snow shoveling & house cleaning. This Grandma needs some rest.

See you soon................Sharon

Snow,snow & more snow

Will it ever stop? I hope so. We have gotten 16" since last weekend. We have shoveled the driveway 3 times. The first time I tried to go anywhere I probably wore 10,000 miles off my tires spinning up the driveway. After 6 tries I finally made it to the top. I had quilts to deliver!

The top picture is our house from the street. The middle

picture is what Christmas lights look like after it snows & snows & snows.

The bottom picture is our cat DC's "princess chair". She loves to sit there & look very regal. Now it looks like it has a big marshmallow cushion!

Our Christmas Eve company could not make it out. The roads where they live are very bad. We'll try again on New Year's Day.

The neighbor's came over & helped us eat some of the warm apple crisp I made for dessert!

On the bright side, we have had no power outages & the thermometer is out of the teens & into the 30's!

I hope wherever you are you are safe & warm.

Merry Christmas......................Sharon

Quilt of the Week

This is a quilt for a new California customer. It has a lot of white that was saying "quilt me, quilt me". I chose leaves to go with the flowers & because I like doing leaves. I've been playing around with different backgrounds & have come up with what I am calling "Swirly Girly". What do you think? I still have at least 3 days of quilting left & I can hear the "Flight of the Bumble Bee" song in my sleep! December is a hurry up & get it done month for quilting. Especially since the National Weather Service has issued a severe weather alert for the Pacific Northwest. It is 14 degrees here right now with 10" of snow & more on the way!
When I get a minute I will update my webshots too.

Check back on Christmas. Little Mister tells me he will be guest blogging again. He thinks Grandma will be too tired!
Stay warm......................Sharon

Grandmaland

We have been having some great Grandma time here. Andrew & I spent several hours together yesterday while Mommy & Daddy went flying. We went for a walk using the Baby Bjorn. Flashback for Grandma to when Joanna was small & I took her for walks the same way. Where does the time go? We had a major haz-mat incident on Thursday. Grandma failed miserably! Little Mister was real happy with himself to say the least! Andrew is a good baby, already sleeping for 5-7 hour stretches a night. He is talking up a storm. Hopefully we get a giggle before Grandma has to come home!
Grandma time is calling....................Sharon

Quilt of the Week

The name of this quilt is Twisted Ribbons. It is a
Roxanne Carter pattern & was pieced by Mary C. Mary loves Asian prints & it is a challenge sometimes to find something to quilt in the busy fabric. This time I chose ribbon & then my curly feathers in white. She was very happy with the result. Me too! I have finally found my "feather niche". I like quilting more whimsical designs, curlicues & ribbon curls go with anything, right?
There are pics of the back of the quilt on my webshots.

Have a nice weekend everyone! Today I'm helping at Pa,
John Kroeze's, 100th birthday party. When his daughter Diane asked him what he thought about having his picture on the front of the local newspaper he said "I think I must be getting more important than President Bush." That's Pa, never dull moment & still going strong! Also will be wearing my "nurse Sharon" hat & checking on Dad's hand. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets better soon!

4 sleeps to go & I'm off to Grandmaland! Little Mister rolled over on Thursday, more than once, so we know it wasn't a fluke!

Better late than never

I am thankful for the cutest Dad on the face of the earth! Dad came out & had Thanksgiving dinner with Jim & I. When I asked if he was going to have seconds, he thought for a minute & said " I can't let Jim out do me." (Jim was working on his second plate.) It was nice to have a medical emergency free day! When we are sitting in the doctor's office (my home away from home) I need to close my eyes & think about that sweet smile & that beautiful, wavy white hair & remember I'm taking care of a hero! I hope my hair is that nice when I'm his age!
Stay tuned for more quilt pics of a Twisted Ribbons by Mary C!
9 days & counting
