Filling My Cup

I'm trying to catch up on quilt posts. Here are 2 from earlier this month. First up is from Meg. She made this for a niece graduating from nursing school. It was a fun quilt to work on.

Jean made this beauty for her "winter" bed quilt. Collecting fabrics & using one of Roxanne Carter's patterns, Freeze Frame. Jean loves a scalloped edge. Me too!

I used "Flurry" on this quilt.

If you are a regular reader, you know I love the beach. It's different every day. 

Sometimes I see artwork. 

Incredible sunsets.

And friends. Mr Heron was fishing on the boat launch dock. 

The tide has been very low & this week will be -(minus) tide. Maybe I'll do a post with just beach pictures. I'm sure any of you who are in snow, snow & more snow this year would like that.

Better get busy here. I think I'll bake something from my Beekman 1802 cookbook today..

The Cupcake Quilt & My Favorite Guys

This is the last of the 2013 quilts. The Cupcake Quilt was made for a lucky teenager here on Camano Island. The back (see last picture) is a thick pile fur. Nice & cozy! 

Jennifer wanted a pink thread for the quilting.

Here are the boys on Christmas morning. I think Daniel(with the fur hat) was pre-squeel at his brother here. You know, the "don't touch my monster truck" kind of day.

The boys love to ride around on their Papa standing on his belt. Nana hopes they have many hunting adventures with their Daniel Boone hats. They went pretend moose hunting while we were there.

It's been a busy January. I have a couple quilts to show you soon. I spent a could days this past week helping my sister move after a tree fell through their house. Luckily they weren't home when it happened. Have a great week & I'll be back soon.

My Favorite Quilt Story

This is a story about my favorite quilt for 2013. The husband who did this is "Husband of the Year" in my eyes. Read on & tell me what you think. 

It was a total surprise.

The husband asked one of my friend's if she could make him a quilt for his wife.

He gave her the saved t-shirts from their son's remarkable life. The husband wanted minimum simple quilting. After I heard the story about Seth( click here & here to read about his life) I knew simple wouldn't be enough. Pushing my Christmas quilting deadlines 

I went to work.

There were Make-A-Wish trips.

Things he, Seth, would be doing. Fishing from heaven.

Building a house.

And loving where they lived.

He loved to fish & hunt. The back is a great woodland flannel to keep his Mom warm.

I hear it was a big hit. 

I have one more quilt from 2013 to share with you & maybe a picture of the Little Misters.

Here's to 2014 and what ever "fills your cup". Make life count.

The Week of The Snowmen & Snow-women

It's buzzy busy around here. "Is my quilt done yet?" is the saying of the week.
Jonne made this lovely rework beauty. 

Susan did this BOM at the Granary Quilt shop in Sunnyvale. Very fun. Quilted holly, snowflakes, & a little bit of this & that.
