Are You Hopping This Week?

It's hopping here in more ways than one. This week the Tri County Shop Hop, Sew Northwest, kicks off on Wednesday.  Carol up at Fabrics Etc in Bellingham is blogging about all the shops & their blocks if you want to take a peek at all of the blocks. Julie from Keepsake Cottage in Bothell posted their version of the quilt on their blog today.

I had the pleasure of quilting the quilt for Fabrics Plus in Anacortes. Carol & crew worked their magic & incorporated the blocks into an art quilt wonder. It was really fun to quilt!

The blocks are hidden in the piecing. I drew some "invisible blocks" in the sky & quilted them too. I thought it broke up the sky.

Anacortes is all about the ferry & getting to the San Juan Islands. If you've never been you really should go.

I used a sea weedy kelp design for this area. All you have to do is click on the picture for a closer look.

There are even blocks in the sand at the bottom of the quilt. 

I'll be at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop on Thursday doing some kind of handwork for a quilt. It's my day out with the Sassy's, the queens of applique! Friends & quilting make for a very good day.

What about this weather we've been having? I'm ready for March to go out like a lamb, how about you?

Farmer's Market & The View

The Farmer's market pictures were taken a week ago Sunday in Newark near Joanna's house. There are always a couple places that have beautiful orchids.

Cabbage the size of my head & lovely lemons.

Leeks "the size of Texas". They were very tasty.

It was time to come home last Tuesday. I never get tired of seeing all the mountains on the flight to Seattle. They are different every time. Mt Shasta with lots of snow, finally.

You can barely see Mt St Helen's. Lots of clouds. Mt Adams in the background.

As the pilot said "Welcome to Seattle". Majestic Mt Rainier at sunset with a full moon. Ahh, it doesn't get much better.

Unless there's a gorgeous sunset!

I closed my eyes & could feel the warmth from the sun at the farmer's market. Try it. Sure beats the you know what covering the ground & roof tops in my neighborhood today!

Sooner

Here I am sooner than later. The first two pictures are Sara's everything quilt. Her Mom Sally made it for her. Her school colors are burgundy & gold. I did an all over freehand fern. 

This is Roxanne Carter's Angel Wings pattern. She'll be a the QA Quilt show on March 16-18  &  will have this pattern along with others for sale.

I loved quilting this cute owl quilt. The pattern designer is Sarah Ostenkowski. She has been working at The Granary in Sunnyvale CA since she was 16. She combined her love of quilting with her graphic design schooling & is now making patterns. Here's the link to her blog & web page.

Kathy is another Granary regular. This version of Attic Windows is very graphic. I chose to keep the quilting simple to not take away from her piecing.

My Cup Is Full

It's been fun being in Nanaland. Daniel has perfected his wave & is a walking maniac whenever he can hold onto something & go!

Someone just had to come sleep with me in the middle of the night a few times. Nana's make everything better , right?

The day starts early here. The weather has been great. Mostly sunny & warm days. 60 degrees plus! I'm not looking forward to going back to snow.

I do have some more quilts to show you sooner than later. Here's to a great week ahead of quilting. Hope you have a good week too!
