A Sunny Weekend

Mr S & I decided to go to Ocean Shores for a couple days. A little get away from the crumby weather. I was really hoping to see the snowy owls I kept hearing about. Man, did we hit the jackpot.

Bambi & friends were outside our hotel window the first morning. Actually the experienced seagulls came out of nowhere once people started throwing stuff out their windows for them to eat. Most caught it mid-air. Hmmmm.

I love to watch these little birds scurrying along the shore avoiding the waves as they come up on the sand.

Who doesn't like seeing an eagle? I never get tired of seeing them patiently waiting for lunch. Check out the other sign. Do you think it gets a little windy here?

View of the ocean from Seabrook

A little on the high end for this Nana. But oh so nice to dream. You can even order your groceries ahead of time & they will be waiting for you. Cha-Ching!

Sunday morning. Love a pink sky.

Damon Pt used to be a state park. I heard this is where your best chance to see the owls would be. Kite fliers & the southern tip of Ocean Shores.

Lots of clam shells along the way. Yes, that's my shadow. Sunshine, ahhhh.

Surfer dude waiting for the perfect wave. Brrr, too cold for me.

And then we spot them up in the trees. Feeling pretty lucky. Lots of people heading out with their tripods trying to get a closer look.

Then one of them flew & landed on a log not far from where I was standing. My lucky day.

On the way back surfer dude rides a ware. You have to be really dedicated to get in the water this time of year.

That's a wrap for 2012. A year of finding me & vowing to continue peace by piece.
May 2013 be a year of thankfulness & filled with joy.

Back soon with more quilting.

It's A Wrap

Last quilts out the door. These brick tile quilts are for customer Kathy's twin granddaughters. I used Papillon on them.  Love how it came.

This is Sue's 100"x100" lovely quilt. It's a gift. Wouldn't you love to be on the receiving end of this? I did the scalloping & the binding on this one. I used Bountiful Feathers on this one.

I love how the Fairy Frost gives it a little shimmer.

You might recognize the 5 Yard Quilt pattern. This is also Sue's & a gift for a niece. Daisy Swirl worked out perfect.

I have one more batch of cookies to make. Cheating & using a Funfetti cake mix. Will make cookie sandwiches with butter cream frosting  in the middle.

Then it will be catch up time for the Curve It Up QAL from Sew Kind of Wonderful. It's not too late to  join the fun.  Here's the colors I'm using.

Be back soon.

Quilts & Nanaland

Here are a couple quilts I finished up before I headed out for my weekend in Nanaland. The first was made by Belinda. Allover water quilting was just right.

Jackie made this quilt for her son & DIL. I did paisley in the little zigs & a curly ferny vine in the zags.

The boys are getting so big. Made snowman pancakes. Found them on Pinterest.

Big D hamming it up at breakfast. Don't let that cute face fool you. He muscled & monkey toed his way out of the crib while I was there. 5 months younger than his brother was. Watch out Mama.

There were a few of these. Beautiful sunrise over Mission Hills. Saw sideways rain & frost on the
lawn too.

Here's another Pinterest project. It lasted 24 hours, then little hands removed some of the buttons.

Big D & Mama trying out his new I Spy quilt.

One of my favorite pics. I think he was telling me about the pictures in the book here.

It was a real whirlwind , but worth every precious second. We also managed to squeeze in some cookie decorating & baking. Whew! On the way home it was the whole horizon sunset. Psst, Southwest I think you need to wash the windows.

One more quilt calling & then I'm done. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can quilt at least one of my own quilts this coming week.

Be back soon.

More Quilts To Quilt

Here's a quilt from last week. Della's squares. I used Hibiscus on this one.

The grey sky lately has not been good for picture taking. This is Mary C's sampler from Roxanne Carter's BOM, a bonus when you go to GNO.

Lots of loops, leaves & curls. I had a lot of fun quilting this one.

I did a new(to me) border design from Jamie Wallen's Mystical Grids book. Check it out, Free Shipping! I took a class from Jamie at MQX & got my creative juices flowing again!

Everything is in high gear here. Quilting like crazy & it's all good. Heading to CA for a long weekend to see Joanna & family. Gotta get my Nana fix. Little Mister keeps asking how he's going to get to my house. His last idea was to call a taxi to take him to the airport! He's a thinker that one.

Better get hopping. I'll have more quilt & Nanaland pictures soon.

Surprise!

Imagine 2 surprises in one week. I'm feeling pretty blessed these days. I blogged about Janice's quilt winning a ribbon earlier. Go here if you want to see the quilt. She got the Judge's Choice Award at the San Mateo County Fair & she sent me a ribbon along with a very nice note & a little surprise.
Thank you Janice!

Then the mailman left this in my mailbox. That fun Secret Pal got me a rockin' gift card. Music to quilt by. Now all I have to do is decide which tunes to put on the i-pod. Thank you Secret Pal for all the special surprise that have come my way this year.

Still quilting like crazy here. I'll show you some pictures soon.
Quilts are calling. Have a great Sunday!

This, That & Everything In Between

Kris' quilt screams Hawaii. Wishing I was there about now.

I used the 15" Hibiscus panto from Dave Hudson. Love this panto.

Julia surprised me when I got this Halloween quilt from her. Her usual quilt color is any shade of purple.
Pretty sure it was a kit(long gone) from Aunt Mary's quilt shop a few years back. Love this quilt too. I have one in my "waiting to be quilted pile".

If you  click on the picture I think you can see curly leaf meander I did around the figures.

Norada's big batik sampler was a lot of fun.

I quilted a sunflower-esque design in the darker solid blocks.
Gloomy day did not make for good pictures. :(

Maybe you can see the sunflower design here on the cheery back.

That's a wrap for now.  Busy week ahead. Be back soon.
