Points of Pride

Some quilts take my breath away & this is one of them. Betz made this Points of Pride quilt. Love it! All paper foundation pieced. I think it was kit. I can't imagine how long it would take to collect all these different shades of rust.

The half circle arches were so big I knew I had to break them up somehow. Chalked a couple circular lines & filled in.

I have another custom sampler to post, hopefully tomorrow.

Tomorrow is May Day. Did you ever leave baskets of flowers on anyone's doorstep? Mom had us leave flowers for Belle Miller, Brodie Acton & Martha Carpenter when we were young. I have some lilacs & I hope to surprise someone special.

Be back soon.

A Quick Hello

Busy week here. The first 2 quilts are Sally's. Bush Berries on the Batik .

Hibiscus on this next one.

Saturday was our Hero Quilt Sew Day. Still making quilts for American Hero Quilts. Here's a teaser of just one of the finished quilts. Putting together a slide show. We had 22 quilts turned in on Saturday. Way to go Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters!

Are you enjoying the sunshine? I played in the dirt, getting a new area ready for strawberry plants.

Have a great week!

Sunshine & A Quilt

I hope you enjoyed the sun as much as I have. I've talked about English Boom here on Camano Island before. It's super easy to find. Turn right on Good Road , between Cascade Lumber & The Spare Room,  after awhile the road curves to the left into E Utsalady. After the airport go right on N Moore Rd. Follow to the end & this is what you will see. It's much easier to navigate the trail at low tide. I love the quilt inspiration in nature.

Bugs & water made interesting holes in this log.

Mt Baker in the distance.

To the east, tiny Mt Pilchuck on the right & Three Fingers to the left right above the piling. Skied at Mt Pilchuck back in the day. Seems like yesterday.

Love how the tide made this interesting pattern with the sea grasses.

Did a meandering pine bough on Janice's batik quilt. Super fun.

I hear a quilt calling. Going to a Long Arm Group get together tomorrow. Hopefully will remember my camera & have a something to post. Also stopping my The Stray Threads Quilt Show on Saturday, Hollywood Encore Quilt Show . Maybe I'll see you there.

A Happy Ending

Do you ever have one of those days that make you wonder why you even got up that morning? Yesterday was that day for me until I saw this.
The Crab Cracker is our local free "see what's going on" magazine. It comes out every 2 weeks. Was I ever surprised when the gals at my bank said "Love the quilt you did on the Crab Cracker". Huh? Somehow they found a picture of my quilting that looked like Spring & used it on the cover.
Just to clarify & give credit where credit is due. This is a quilt Carrol at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop  made & did the beautiful applique that was my inspiration for the quilting. Here's a link back to the original post, Piece O' Cake.
I'm going to go enjoy the sunshine. How about you?

Is It Spring Yet?

It has to be Spring somewhere, right? I scrounged around the yard & found a few flowers in bloom. Love the smell of hydrangeas.
Kim & Jennifer, Mom & Daughter duo, put together the next 6 quilts. Some for charity.
I especially like the one on the far right. Bright cute bugs.
Betz has been at it again. I think she saved this pattern from a magizine in the 90's & finally got it made. Way to go!
Lots of fun places to quilt.

Easier to see the design on the back.
I got lucky again commenting on a blog. Stephanie over at Kwiltz by Stephanie is cleaning out her stash & has had a few give aways. I won!
It was a nice surprise to get this in the mail. A great bunch of black & white fabric. Thanks Steph!
Guess I better get back to quilting today. It's nice to be finding me again.
