Do you hear the blog angels singing? Finally a post! This first quilt is by Mary. A sweet flannel baby quilt.

This is another one of Mary's quilts. She was really busy!

The next 3 pictures I used the Flurry panto. It's my favorite snowflake!

This is from Nancy. A southwest feel & the bear that I echoed. I know it kind of looks like a pig without a tail , right? I said it so you didn't have to! I blew up the exact bear shape from the fabric & made a stencil.

That's it for now. I am going to try again soon. I have lots of quilts to show you. Life has been a runaway train around here. It's my new normal. Praying for peace for Dad.

How has 2012 been for you so far? Other than blogger not letting me upload pictures, all good here. I've tried at least 3 times to post & finally got lucky today.First up is Jolyn from CA double Wedding Ring. Part hand pieced, part machine. I don't blame her, piecing one of these all by hand would make me crazy.I did lots of leaves. Love those leaves!

Pat made her son a t-shirt waall hanging from some of his swimming shirts. It was one of my "week before Christmas" quilts.

I have several other quilts to show you, but I'm not going to push my luck today. Later this week, promise.Enjoyed my time with Joanna & the boys. Baby Daniel is a force to be reconned with. He's a fast one, unplugged the Christmas tree lights twice! Little Mister Andrew is the Embassador of Happy. It was nice for this Nana to fill her cup up with grandbaby love!I'll be back soon!Nana Sharon

A Little Bit of This & a Little Bit of That

Today's quilts are brought to you by Joyce & Chris. First up is Joyce & this lovely panel. I think she got it on e-bay!

Big flowers needed big quilting. By echoing the first quilting line it gave it the dimension I was looking for.

I'm calling the stitching in the green "lazy river". I quilted a "lazy river" line by sections & then echoed about 1/2" away. Remember big designs need big quilting. She doesn't like dense quilting so I left the white areas blank.

Chris made Crabapple Hill's Winter Wonderland. I never get tired of quilting this one. Always a different way to add a swirl, curly que or do some Swirly Girly quilting.

Outdoor Christmas lights & more gutter cleaning are calling me. Mr S will be on the roof, thank you very much.

Next will be Christmas cards & cookies are next on my to do list. Sewing for the Little Misters too! And yes, I'm on the countdown again, 22 days 'til I'm in Nanaland!

This was a class at The Quilt Shoppe in Arlington. A friend , Kathy Smith made it for her daughter Amy's birthday. Sadly, Kathy lost her battle with the big "C" this past summer.

Kathy was part of The Sassy's. An applique group I belong to that meets twice a month. Kathy would be the first to tell you "these are not my colors." And I'm pretty sure she changed the pattern, like always!

Sorry it's been so long between posts. I had computer problems at home uploading photos to the blog. I took care of that while I have been in Nanaland. Hopefully will have a couple more posts soon.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Joanna reminded me that the last time we were together for Thanksgiving was 9 years ago. It was nice to spend the time with her family.

One Block Wonders & More

MQX-Last Week's Fun

Last week I went to Portland Oregon to a big quilt show, MQX. It was also an opportunity for me to take some long arm quilting classes.

Someone went here. Third stop going west from the Convention Center & 2 blocks up. I could only eat half. Like eating a pancake swimming in syrup.

There were lots of special quilts.

If I ever spent this much time quilting something...........bring me back to reality please!

Some just pretty to look at.

Others with some new quilting ideas.

And some award winners. Wanda from Heartbeat Quilting made this beauty. The applique blocks were her mother's. You can tell there was a lot of love put into making the blocks & Wanda's beautiful quilting.

These are 2 of the ladies that made some of the blocks in this quilt. They are from the Boistfort Valley in Washington State. The quilt was made to honor the farming in the valley. One of them did the pig & the other cut our all the flowers. Take a close look at each block. The different footprints of each animal is quilted into the quilt along with a few surprises.

The Best of Show quilt always had too many people around it whenever I had my camera. It was "T With Miss D" by Sandra Leichner. Go here to see this lovely creation for yourself. I did take a few classes & get some new ideas. One was a whole cloth in Sue Patten's Zensuedle class. I need to quilt it & then I'll show you.

T-Shirt Quilt

First you cut out the logos from all your t-shirts. I always cut them a little bigger than I might use. You can always trim later. Next iron on the woven fabric interfacing. It looks like thin broadcloth. (I'll add the name later.)

Pick some really fun fabrics to frame the logos. For this quilt I cut 2 1/2" & 3" strips.

Frame the t-shirt pieces. Set them aside & work on the layout later.

The blocks are starting to pile up!

Now the quilt starts to take shape. If a block is too short I just add another strip & trim it off. Don't measure & try to get exactly the right sized piece. Remember you are just trying to get it done.

The Best Grandmother's Flower Garden

Sometimes I get a quilt & want to pinch myself. Check out the Grandmother's Flower Garden. 2" squares, all hand pieced. The quilt is owned by a friend of one of my customers mother's. My customer thinks that it was made by the woman's mother.

All the hexagons were carefully centered so each one had the same design. The combinations are fabulous.

What's your guess for the year these fabrics are from? The 40's?

Some people don't like when a beautiful hand pieced quilts gets machine quilted. I think it's better to have it quilted & out to enjoy than in a box in the closet.

Jonne made this darling airplane quilt for her grandson Aksel's 1st birthday. Shhh,it's a surprise, his birthday is next month.

Love all the different shades of blue she used.

I think she used Mary Lou's book for the letters. A special touch.

Little Mister Checking In

Guess what today is? It's my birthday! Nana can't believe I'm 3 already. ~~Joanna~~, oops I mean Mama made me this Ernie shirt. I really like it.

This is what I do when Nana tells me to put on my "Happy Face".

~~Joanna~~(why does everyone call her that?)Mama made cupcakes & cake pops for my party. That's my friend Dane watching me blow out the candles.

I keep asking Nana is she has a ticket yet so she can come see me. I hope she gets one soon. I like doing things my way now that I'm 3. Maybe you can remind everyone that "I am the boss". It doesn't seem to work when I say it.

Magical Cottages & Pandas

Sandy embroidered these cute cottages. I think they were a BOM. Don't you love the colors in this quilt? So happy!

I thought the curls kept it whimsical.

Betty made this quilt for her daughter who loves pandas.

A little spike left spike right in the red sashing. Do you say words in your head to keep your quilting design going?

I quilted bamboo a la Judy Irish allover this quilt. It's a lot easier than you think.

I went to the beach last night. Wasn't it beautiful out? So warm. I'll show you pictures later.

Little Mister Andrew turns 3 this week. Doesn't seem possible does it? I the Birthday Boy might have something to say later this week!

We Interrupt Our Regular Program

Dad(on the right) & Bob have turned a neglected courtyard at Josephine into a garden. The local newspaper wrote about them here. Cleaning up flower beds, planting strawberries, herbs & veggies. There's even a little greenhouse they start the seeds in! Dad asked me to help him pick the beans, he can't reach the low ones.

I should have taken a picture of the 15# bag I picked. Here they are after Mr S helped me trim & cut them.

I had to dust off this.

Buy some of these.

I ended up with 22 pints of frozen green beans.

Not exactly what I had planned to do last week. I need to be thankful that somewhere in that forgetful brain is still the hard working busy Dad of long ago. Just don't give him the hedge trimmer.

I'll be thankful this winter when I'm eating tasty beans!

Betz is at it again. Love this one. It was the Sister's Quilt Show quilt a couple years ago.

I did a leaf curl design in some of the pinwheels. You might have to click for a closer look.

The border was MEGA wide. What to do..................."Calling all leaves". My new name for any leaf twisting here & there border.

How was your weekend? I went here to celebrate Kathy's life. The ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Cascades. A fitting place to say farewell to a special quilting friend. The food was fabulous. Be sure & check out the restaurant if you go to the link.

Whew! What a fun week we had. Busy in a good way. Daniel is growing like a weed. Got giggles & raspberries out of him.

Hard to believe Andrew will be 3 next month. He loves his Papa. Does a mean Justin Bieber & sometimes I don't recognize him. Somehow he takes on a whole new look as he's hollering "I am not in time out". Oh my!

They are on their way back to CA & this Nana needs to get crack-a-lackin on quilts!

Betz made this beautiful quilt. Meg over at Crabapple Hill does great embroidery patterns. I love doing the Swirly Girly thing with these blocks.

I keep trying to post more. The past couple weeks have been a little crazy. Dad is not having a good time. After 3 falls, 2 cut eyebrows, a scraped up elbow, a fat lip & broken dentures he somehow manages to have a sense of humor. He told the Dr last week he'd try & stay off of the furniture!
Busy weekend here. Getting ready for Little Mister's visit. Tomorrow is the big day!

A "Fair" Quilt

Lynn entered this beauty in the Stanwood Camano Fair. Blue Ribbon. Last year the quilt I quilted for her got the BIG ribbon. This year's winning quilt was a stunning Baltimore Album applique quilt.

Did you go to the fair? Mr S & I went for the food, oh, & to see the neighbor girl compete in the "Large Animal Round Robin". I ate my semi-annual corn dog & had a delicious fresh raspberry scone from here.

I haven't talked about Dad for awhile. He's been having a rough go. You know that roller coaster just never stops. He actually convinced one of the staff to take him to the hardware store for...............paint. He knew better than to ask me. LOL!!!

On the countdown until Joanna & family visit Nanaland. Little Mister loves music & dancing almost as much as Nana(I might have helped that along) & he's been working on some new moves & singing. Really hoping to get a video to post while they are here.

Generations of Love

Remember when I showed you this? Hand quilting, right? 3 years to be exact.

This is the other side of the quilt. I had it in the Camano Island Quilt show in April. It was the first time I got to really appreciate the finished quilt. All that time spent hand quilting I never got to see the whole quilt. I have to say it took my breath away seeing it from across the room.

The story behind the quilt is really remarkable. We found the blocks along with the pattern(a Workbasket from 1941) in my Grandma Florence's things after she passed away. There was even a cardboard template made from some sort of food box. I never knew she quilted. Each family got a quilt, I took home the box of blocks knowing that someday I would finish it. The turquoise color is polished cotton, the white is all flower sack dish towels. When I found out I was going to be a Grandma I thought it would make a nice gift for my daughter. Didn't get it done for grandson #1's arrival, had to wait until #2 came along.

I used pictures of mothers & dads with babies for the label. Grandma Florence with Dad, Dad with me, Mom with me & me with Joanna for the label. I made the label a big pocket to hold the pattern & template. I think a story this special needs to stay with the quilt. If you click on the picture you can see it better.

Fast forward to my recent trip to CA. Couldn't trust mailing or the airlines to get this quilt safely to it's destination. Since we drove it was the perfect time for my "special delivery".
Joanna loves the quilt & the boys had to be in a picture too!

Quilts On The Beach 2

Remember last year? It was a really fun day. And it's FREE!!!!!

QUILTS ON THE BEACH 2

The Cama Beach Quilters will hold their second one-day-only open-air quilt show at Cama Beach State Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, rain or shine. Quilts on the Beach 2 will feature another 50 of the 150 bed-size quilts this group of women have made since 2002 for the cabins at the park. Many of the quilts will available for sale. This event has been designated as a FREE DAY at Cama Beach park, so no Discover Pass will be needed on that day. Park in the upper lots and walk or shuttle to the beach.

In addition to the quilts, which will hang from park buildings and cabins, there will be a number of quilt-related activities for all ages and interests in the beautiful newly-opened Cama Center. These will include a bed-turning of antique quilts, flower pounding, hands-on sewing of quilt blocks, coloring for small kids, and other activities. "Tulips and Ties", a queen-size raffle quilt made by the group to support educational activities funded by the Cama Beach Foundation will be on display.
There will also be special prices for the many items made by the Cama Beach Quilters for sale in the Foundation's general store at the park. Please join us for a FREE fun day at Cama Beach. If you have questions,

In The Pink

I'm not asked often to quilt with a color on white background. Diane asked for pink on her tulip quilt. I tried some new designs using Sue Patten's book, Adaptable Quilting Designs, as my inspiration. Great book for all you quilters out there!

There are big blocks in between the tulips that were calling for some special quilting. Here's a couple pictures of how that worked out.

The Latest

On Friday morning leaving Seattle this is what it looked like. That's the tip of Mt St Helen's in case you can't tell.

I waved as we flew over the Three Sisters & everyone getting ready for the Sisters Quilt Show.

Saturday morning we went to Santa Cruz. First Daniel fell asleep.

Then Andrew.

We watched the surfers. The purple flowering vine was really pretty.

Surfer "dudes" were everywhere.

We had a "pic pic"(Andrew's word for picnic). Then played kick ball.

Then we went for walk & spotted these pelicans.

And the natural arches carved in the cliffs.

Little Mister has tons of energy. I may need to rest when I get home. Ha,ha what am I thinking.
No time for that!

4th of July & Hero Quilts

Today was the big day. American Hero Quilts in Stanwood. The quilts looked great over the sound boards, on quilt racks & hanging over the balcony.

We set up a special table with information on how people can help. The sign board tells some of the stories from the soldiers' & their families.

Did You Know?

Do you remember this quilt display? "Infinite Variety" was a program by the American Folk Art Museum at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC. I would have loved to have been able to see it in person.

I was watching a Martha Stewart episode last week & she had a segment on the quilt show. Be sure & watch the video(best part).

Raffle Quilt

The 4th of July is celebrated in a big way at the beach community of Spee-ba-dah. This is my 3rd year quilting for them. The quilt piecer had different women contribute a block to the quilt. Susan came up with another winning design this year. She used styrofoam blocks etched with Native American designs to stamp blocks for this quilt. All of the other women pieced different colored strips together.

Last year this was their quilt. In 2009 it was flip flops.

She brought me this book to find inspiration for the quilting.

Wow! There was lots of inspiration for sure!

A special graduation quilt from Barbara. Batiks are always a hit. I used the 15" Hibiscus by Dave Hudson. Fast & easy!

Jonne made this quilt for her son Jeff. A Drunkard's Path & she requested minimal quilting. Hmmmm, took awhile to come up with a design.

I liked the ferny frond design.

Next up, Carrol's "Flower Pots" Kaffe applique. If you are an applique lover you will be making a bee-line for Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop! I'll have closeups tomorrow.

A couple days later, this showed up. I commented on the Table Talk Blog Hop that started at GE Designs & won! The book is full of great table runners & table toppers & some her favorite recipes. The recipe for Hot Fudge Pudding Cake is on her blog. check it out.

I'll have some quilt pictures later for you. I quilted another applique stunner for Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop. All Kaffe fabric.

Put A Bird On It

Bet you were thinking that this was a post about Portlandia's "Put A Bird On It". Jennifer's cute bird quilt & my lilac bush are the stars of this post.

Sweet birds!

Speaking of birds, the resident robin has been busy in the lilac bush. I weeded the flower beds, hadn't gotten around to picking up the grass, etc. up yet & look what the robin did. I was really surprised since the lilac is right next to the front door.

It took awhile to catch her setting on the nest. She just looks at me. I can't wait until the babies hatch. I'll keep you posted.

Hope you are having a good week. My hand is doing better. I was able to take the bandage off today. I also got a nice surprise from Mr S. I'll show you tomorrow!

Finished Dr Seuss Zig Zag Quilt

Finally finished the Dr Seuss Zig Zag Quilt for Littlest Mister. The free tutorial is in a previous post.(My computer is possessed right now & not cooperating, sorry no links) I was lucky & did one stop shopping at Over The Rainbow for the fabrics and backing.

I decided to embroider over Horton for the label. I used one strand red & blue for the special words from Nana. And who can resist Minkee on the back? I didn't give the quilt a name. I think it should be Green Eggs & Ham.

Here he is. Mr. Chubby Cheeks Daniel. All this on Mom's milk only! Go Joanna! It's a good thing we have Skype or I'd be in serious withdrawls. There's nothing better than snuggling with a new baby!

I do have some customer quilts & a little nature to share with you this week. Had a little mishap today. Slipped while mowing the lawn, landed on some sharp rocks & hit the fence. Sporting a very large bandage on my left hand. I think I'm on the roller coaster again longing for the merry-go-round!

Welcome Home , Dr Seuss & A Box of Good

Dr Seuss is the theme used for our new Little Mister. I have his quilt ready for quilting. Someone got here a little early & Nana didn't have time to quilt it yet! You can find the tutorial online here. Pam & Jenny have great zig zag quilts on their blogs too!

It doesn't seem possible that while I was gone all the leaves came out & the flowers bloomed. Here's a couple pictures of my "welcome home"!

Bumble bees have been busy working the heather & the ever so sweet forget me nots are all in bloom too.

Once a month this arrives on our doorstep. A "Box Of Good" from the Klesick's organic farm. It's fun to see what new veggie or fruit I'm going to try. This week there were the most beautiful artichokes I've ever seen. I'm trying a Mario Batali recipe. Mmmmmm!

Sure was nice to see the sun last week. Hope it comes back soon!

My Purse & Crabapple Hill

Remember this purse? I did the embroidery last summer in a class at The Quiltmaker's Shoppe in Arlington. It was a fun day with several of the Sassy's there as well.

Meg Hawkey from Crabapple Hill taught the class. On their blog they show pictures of Crabapple Hill designs made by people like us. So here's the link. There are all kinds of eye candy to look at. I love everything Crabapple Hill & am honored to be included on their blog.

I was home for 3 nights last week. Finished these customer quilts & then back on the plane. More on that later.

This 1st quilt is Betty's for her daughter. New adventures in quilting for her.

Roxanne is always coming up with new patterns every month for her GNO gals. I can't remember the name of this one. Her classes are the best!

I came back on Sunday because Littlest Mister is getting here a few days early. Hopefully he will be here later today & I can post some new pictures tonight. Enjoying the record high heat.

Frequent Flier Miles

Last night I took to the "friendly skies" again. It seems Littlest Mister is not thinking that he wants to come out head first. Hopefully he will get with the program. I have thought all along that he would be here early. So the wait begins.

Rainbows always make everything better. I saw this one last week during some of our lovely northwest spring.

Joanna is using the cute new Dr Seuss fabrics for the new little guy. Nana found some fabric to make diaper covers. They are so tiny!

Last week while I was here we did some cooking. This poor child had never licked the beaters before. Nana fixed that. He called them "lollipops"!

Modeling his new "Fly Boy" hat Cindy gave us while sitting in his new airplane seat.

I have pictures of a couple more quilts I can post later this week. I'll soak up some sun for all of you too. Record high of 88 expected on Wednesday. Woohoo!

Calypso Swing Fabric Quilt & more

Mother daughter quilting duo Kim & Jennifer have been quilting up a storm. I love the fabric in Kim's latest quilt, Calypso Swing from Free Spirit. I've got to find some!

Used the Daisy Swirl panto.

Jennifer made a quilt for her boyfriend. I'l have to see if I can get a picture of the whole quilt form her. She mixed a few colors with the black & gray strips,perfect.

American Hero Quilts & A Play

A couple of weeks ago Cindy, Wilma & I went to Vashon Island & delivered quilts to American Hero Quilts. We also had the priveledge of packing up quilts that will be sent to Afghanistan to the wounded warriors at Bagram.

Each quilt has it's picture taken & a card from AHQ is attached before it is packed in a box. We processed 101 quilts! Amazing!

Here are a few pictures. The bags of quilts we brought with us. Most made by the Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters.

Here's what the Sequim Gazette had to say about the play. Wilma was fortunate & saw the play on Sunday. Uniformed soldiers read some of the letters that American Hero Quilts gets from soldiers & their families. I think you might need a tissue for that!

Camano Island Quilters "25 Years of Quilting"

I hope you have time today or tomorrow to come to Stanwood & visit the Camano Island Quilter's quilt show. The charter members of the group are the featured artists this year.

Stanwood Middle School(just down the street from the post office) is where you can see all of the lovely creations created by the guild members over the past two years. We'll be there from 10-5 both days.

Here are a couple of customer quilts you can take a closer look at if you come! First up is Wilma's soccer girl quilt. Love the colors & that it shows soccer girls!

This is Cheryl's quilt that she made for a nephew. He actually designed the quilt! Very impressive!

Pat appliqued this darling tablerunner. It has button embellishments now. She had to take a break from setting up yesterday to finish sewing the binding on!

The Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters will have a display & cookbooks for sale. Over The Rainbow & Quilter's Roost are a couple of the vendors you will see.

I worked like crazy this week to get my own quilts done. I'll take pictures today & post again tonight.

I'm on the countdown again. Hooray! This time we will be welcoming(keep your fingers crosseed) Little Mister 2 during my visit.

CIQ Semi Annual Quilt Show , "25 Years of Quilting" is on April 8th & 9th at the Stanwood Middle School. The hours are 10-5. This year's featured artist will be all of our Charter Members. I know there are going to be some incredible quilts.

Also the Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters will have a display as well as CIQ Comfort quilts that go to the Providence Children's Center.

Are You Hopping?

Miss Jenny over at Jenny's Doodling Needle quilted 2 of the quilts for this hop. Go to her blog & check out her March 4th post to see her beautiful quilting.

I think I said I'd show more pictures of the Fabric's Plus quilt, so here goes. They made 2 quilts. One quilt using each of the shop's blocks. And one that is a tree where the quilt hangs from the branch. I haven't gotten to see the finished product. I know they were adding flowers & all kinds of other goodies to really make their quilt "sing". So if you go to Anacortes, be sure to stop in and check it out!

Noel by Vintage Spools

Have you seen this Block of the Month from Vintage Spools? It's very nice & the grays & pinks make it a one of a kind holiday quilt.

Carrol over at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop had me quilt her's. Fun, fun, fun! She'll have kits available at the QA Quit Showthis weekend in Monroe. It's a great show & there's always lots of fun vendors.

Wish me luck today at the airport. The metal riveted buttons on by jean back pockets made them think I was suspicious passenger! (Not using the "T" word, you never know when "big brother is watching!) They had to pat down my hiney & wipe my hands with the explosive detecter things. I hate those TSA idiots!

My CA alarm clock (Little Mister) gets up by 6 every morning, so this Nana is tired. I will be back in Nanaland on May 11th & hopefully Little Mister's brother will be here soon after. He's helping me right now or not. Peeling off all the post its & drawing on them! Oops!

Nanaland

It's been a busy few days. Little Mister is a running commentary of what he is doing & what the rest of us are doing! Talky McTalkster! Here's what he did today when he was supposed to be napping. At one point I could see his feet lift off the floor & knew he was hanging from the door knob!

(I'll have to try & add the video when I get home. For some reason it's not working.)
We've done lots of reading.

I finally finished Joanna's coat. She loves it.

Little Mister has his own headphones which he loves to wear even when he's not going flying with his Papa.

It doesn't seem possible that it's time to come home already. I worked on a few other projects too. I'll have some pictures once I get home.
One fairly nice weather day. So I didn't luck out there.

Last Week's Quilt News

Seems I was a slacker last week & didn't do a post. Hmmmm, it was pretty crazy around here. The wind storm on Wednesday had me wishing it was summer. A couple big gusts & a big limb came down like a rocket on the roof shaking the whole house! Several came down on the neighbor's deck at the same time. They were lucky & had little damage. Us, not so lucky. We had a small hole & are lucky that the neighbor is a handy guy & fixed it for us. Whew! Still working on the final clean up today.

I taught the Twister class at Aunt Mary's on the 26th. Fun day. You remember my post about the quilt here.
It's a really fun quilt to make. Check out the book & ruler.

I also made a sample that I will use in a Hero Quilt.

Here's my Dad story of the week! What would you do if you were 80 years old, used a walker & it was snowing outside & you lived at an assisted living facility? You would go to maintenance, ask for a snow shovel & they would give you one. Then you would go shovel the sidewalks! I have to admitt that I laughed when the staff told me about this latest "adventure". He's always been a busy person. Likes to putter around outside. I know he was just trying to stay busy. I'm not quite sure how he managed the walker & the shovel. He was probably "Mr Smarty Pants" & abandoned the walker to shovel! Never a dull moment!

Snowman update from my last post. The first words out of Little Mister's mouth when he saw the snowman picture-"Where's the snowman's hat?" Note to self, next time put a hat on the snowman Nana!

My trip to CA is going to be a whirlwind. Baby shower with Joanna's
co-workers on Thursday. Finish It Friday at The Granary. Best of all spending time with Joanna & her family(especially Little Mister).

Quilts & Weather

I think I haven't said UNCLE loud enough because we keep getting more snow! It's snowing again as I write this.

There are a few flowers out in the yard. Bright yellow primroses, something called lung wart(it has varigated pink & blue flowers) & my favorite snow bells. I took a few bulbs from Granite when Dad sold the house. They remind me of Mom.

I promised Little Mister I'd make him a snowman. I cheated & built it on the deck. Too cold & wet for me! The weather forcast for the Bay area is calling for snow in the Oakland Hills & around San Francisco! Close to Little Mister!

The Veggie Quilt & Little Mister

Here are some pictures of Joanna's veggie quilt. She got some of the fabrics from Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop & added some of her own finds to make it bigger. I think "wild woman" Judy Irish might have had something to do with this quilt.

I had fun quilting bugs, veggies & leaves into the quilt.

Here is a picture of Joanna at the beginning of the month. They take a picture of the "baby bump" every month for the baby book. Little Mister had to get in on the fun too!

Still Here & Quilting!

Okay, can someone tell me where the time goes? I'm feeling like the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get. At least as far as blogging goes!

Some of the quilts I've been working on. This first quilt was made by Sara. She is 14 & I think she's been quilting since she was 8. This is the last quilt her Mom will pay for me to quilt(number 3). Made from her favorite color!

Janice is entering this next quilt in the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Show. She is a regular at The Granary. I quilted pine boughs in the borders & corners. Love the border fabric she used!

Joyce has her quilt tops aging like "fine wine".This one was from a Roxanne Carter class a few years back(10 actually). The panto "Rosie" from Willow Leaf Studio was perfect for this quilt!

Everything Happens For A Reason

I'll go to the end of this story first. All clear, nothing to worry about! The best words I've heard in a long time.

I've been talking a lot about this. And what a wild ride it's been!

Afte a routine mammogram in late October I got a call saying they "saw something" & I needed to come back so they could take another look. Sure enough there it was, a small lump. Couldn't feel it, no pain ,nothing. In fact, they said it was probably there last year & they missed it. Gulp!

Long story short, through several months of medical facility miscommunications, I had a lumpectomy last week(January 25th to be exact). Like I said at the beginning, all clear, all good. During the October-January timeline my stomach was like a washing machine & my head would not be quiet! I will freely admitt that Zanax was my new BFF(best friend), don't know how I could have done it without her. So if I seemed a little "off", this is why. What's "normal" anyway?

I'm telling my story to encourage every woman to take care of themselves. Have your mammogram every year. It's worth the squish!

My sense of humor is still intact & life is good.

This is what I woke up to yesterday. The picture was taken from my deck. Ahh, one of the reasons I love my little house on Camano. Moments like this remind me I have many things in my life to be thankful for!

A Little Bit of This & That

How did it get to be February already? I've been busy quilting & sewing lately. This first picture is a winter coat for Joanna. We chose a Project Runway pattern from Simplicity. Love the sassy polka dot lining!

This is a sampler quilt made by Wanda's Mom. Mom left a pile of quilt tops or should I say "Treasures" for her family.

Shelley made a sampler with friends. Love the Falling Leaves panto.

This is Roxanne Carter's Storm at Sea. It might have another name. I know she'll be selling the patterns at the upcoming QA Quilt Show in March.

This is a surprise quilt. A labor of love for a special someone. No pictures of the front until it is in the hands of that special someone.

The roller coaster has been extra bumpy lately. I'll fill you in on a later blog. Happy about the sun we are having, just wish it was a little warmer.

A Hero Quilt Kind of Day

Today was the monthly get together for the Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters. 24 people came to work on quilts! And 28 quilts were dropped off finished by some of our fabulous long arm quilters. This month marks the 4 year anniversary of our first get togeher. We started with just 7 that day! Hooray to all of you! I'll add some pictures to this post later.

The Moda Bake Shop Progressive Dinner is in full swing. Check out the Polka Dot Chair blog & you'll see what I mean!

Where does the time go? This first quilt was made by Diane. A group of us played "strip poker" using 2 1/2" strips of fabric as our "chips". Fun time & lots of happy memories in all of the fabrics we swapped!

Pat made this little beauty as a baby shower gift & loved it so much I think a future grandchild will be getting it!

California Janice whipped up this Bear Paw for their cabin. Love all the colors in the batiks. Especially the border. I 'm getting to know a new camera, so bear with me while I am on the learning side of this.

Who doesn't love Minky for the back of a quilt? I tried a new "flower collage" on the Twister quilt & had a lot of fun! I have to really concentrate to keep the scale consistent. I kept telling myself "go big".

Side Trip

Mr S & I went on a side trip to the Lick Observatory east of San Jose. It's an hour drive on a very road windy that gets narrower as you get near the top of Mt Hamilton. Lots of bicyclists too. It was founded in 1888, so the architecture is beautiful. The views are fabulous!

Quilt inspiration, don't you think? Marble & grand woodwork.This light fixture was enormous. So beautiful. Hinges from the original doors. There's a tour every half hour. The entire floor moves can move up to the railings to better position the telescope. My heart skipped a beat seeing the beautiful wood & the patterns on the walls. The dome & the end of the telescope. More quilt design inspiration. Travel back in time looking at the control panel & chair! At 4200" it was cold outside!Bet this big, gnarly pine tree has seen all kinds if weather. The dome in the center is where I took the telescope pictures.San Jose in the distance. Bambi peacefully eating some grass. He had several of his friends too. There is a beautiful county park, Joseph D. Grant County Park, on the way up. I found this article about hiking there. My last days in Nanaland

Joanna & I got to "escape" for a day of retail therapy. Can you see the rainbow? An indication that it was going to be a wild weather day! Here we are at our favorite quilt shop, The Granary. They have their class schedule online if you are going to be in the area. The shop was filled with samples from the past year's classes for sale. Here's Sara, one of their helpful employees. Jodi ringing Joanna's purchases. You can see that they have tons of samples. Little Mister or General Patraw(he orders all of us around) with his favorite Elmo hat & "my puppets"(that's what he call mittens or socks that he puts on his hands.)We went for a walk around the neighborhood. Here we are again on the train.We saw the most beautiful sunset on our way back to Niles from Sunol.The grand finale.

I have more pictures of the Lick Observatory near San Jose to post later. Taking Dad to get his cast off today. Hallelujah! He whittled away,like a squirrel, at it while I was gone.

Time Flies & The Tornados

Hard to believe that it's Wednesday already! It didn't take Little Mister long to hop on Nana's lap to show me the helicopter. This dog has a very obnoxious laugh & rolls around on the floor. Or it can spin around in the air if you hold the tail! We went from Niles to Sunol on the Christmas Train. We saw some deer on the way to Sunol. I have more pictures I'll post when I get home of this trip. We sat in an open car on the way there. We went inside for the trip back. He looks so innocent here! I think this was right before he did his best "wet noodle" imitation! The weather has been wild. High wind advisory yesterday & last night. Also some "surf's up" rain. Just like home for us, not so much for the locals.

Our neighbor is watching the cats. She referred to them as "The Two Tornado's" in an e-mail update. Apparently they were streaking through the house with a sock & wouldn't give it up for anything. I'm almost afraid if what I'll find when I get home! Little devils!

Merry Christmas

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas! Here's the quilt wrap up for 2010.

A sweet little cross stitched bear that Wanda's mother had made. Even though she's been gone for 5 years her work & memories live on!

These are blocks that Maria got from a 96 year old relative that is now in a nursing home. Aren't they beauties? Mostly embroidery on the blocks. Some the lines are made by those paints in the tubes? If you are old enough you will know what I'm talking about!Here's a closer look at the blocks. A lucky granddaughter got this one! Miss Julie made a "big" quilt for her darling Danika. Luckiest granddaughter on earth! And last, but by no means least, my Secret Pal strikes again! Luck me , a gift card to Scandia. I love the Greek chop salad there! Thank you Secret Pal!

Almost Done

Betz makes a quilt for each of her kids when they turn 50. This is for the son who went to West Point. Her own design! That's her peaking out from behind the quilt.

Mary made an angel quilt for a friend who lost some very special people in her life this past year. She wanted simple allover quilting so I came up with ribbon that I was able to go in & out of the embroidery blocks. Sorry, I accidentally deleted the picture of the next quilt. You can see how I followed the pattern of the fabric to quilt the border. I'll add the quilt to my next post.

Have to check on Little Mister later. He was being very "2" yesterday afternoon & almost ended out on the street holding a "free" sign.

I'm on the home stretch with the quilting. Taking a couple hours for myself today for a pedicure & lunch with a friend.

Oh Christmas Tree

Check out our Christmas tree. Notice anything unusual? No ornaments on the lower half. See little miss innocent, Bella, next to the tree? She & her brother Puma, our fun(most of the time) 6 month old cats have reminded me what it's like to have a 2 year old in the house. Even the upper ornaments aren't safe from this tree climbing duo. Life would be boring without them. Check out the tree skirt too. Never know where I'm going to find it. Lucky if it's still under the tree when we get up in the morning! I have lots of quilt pictures to post later. It's been busy here. Took Dad to the Dr this past week to hear that his hand is healing well, but needs to be in the cast 2 more weeks. Not what he wanted to hear. Had a BIG turnout for Hero Quilting yesterday. Hoping to get a picture or 2 from Judeen to show you.

Christmas Colors for Colorful Friday

Here goes on what I found for Christmas Colours. My favorite quilts. Miss December, a Quilting With Roxanne Sampler & a little quilt with Hoffman fabrics with fun thread for the quilting.

A very special gift from Great Grandma. A real fur hat & hand warmer. A favorite from Mom. Whipped paraffin wax Christmas tree. My snowman collection.

I learned to smock around in the early 80's from Ester Oliver. She was from Wales & a real gem! Sewing themed ornaments. My favorite holiday family picture circa 1961. I think my Grandma Vivian made us the matching outfits. That's me on the left in case you couldn't tell.Not color, but another favorite picture of Christmas. 1957. How on earth did they get my dress to look so perfect? I almost forgot to tell my favorite Christmas song, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Bruce Sprintstein. I love "The Boss". I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season with your families. I'm headed to my "happiest place on earth", Nanaland! I'll be sure & file a report while I'm there.

Blue Birds of Happiness

Carrol at Aunt Mary's Quilt shop amazes me with her beautiful applique. This quilt will be available at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop as a kit. Scrumpdillyisious! the color in these pictures doesn't do it justice. It has a very crisp yellowy-green background. Aren't these blue birds the sweetest? Here's the whole quilt. I think the color shows a little better here. The big blocks with a variation of the Terry Twist in the center. Lots of "swirly girly" quilting , my favorite! All the cherries with this adorable check. Sweet , sweet, sweet! Another big cherry block. It was very fun to quilt. I hope you enjoyed it!

2 Lucky Grandsons

How lucky are Grandson's today to have Quilting Diva Grandma's? LUCKY! Jean designed this first quilt for her grandson. He saw Mariner's Compass quilt & knew he wanted one. Closeup of the quilting in the compass points. Quilting in all of the background squares. All of these blocks are 1 1/2" strips that are made into these fab strata blocks. Check out the first picture to get the full effect. Mary C has a 9 year old grandson who will be getting this quilt. I think it's a Judy Neimyer pattern. Love all the lime greens! It's been a wild week here. Dad broke his hand. After 3 trips to the doctor it's in a cast & (cross your fingers) healing. I'll post later today on Friday's color TEAL.

Silver Friday

A fellow long arm blog friend, Pam, asked me to play the color game this week. So here goes on all things silver.
The obvious silverware. Yes, those are crumbs. Note to self, wash the tray this weekend. Great grandma's tarnished silver. Wooden box, velvet lining. Reminds me of special holiday meals with her. My snow covered ride. Thread & a favorite applique jelly pen. A few of the items in my sewing room. Favorite scissors.Check out the the zipper bag behind the magnetic pin dish. That's for "cat proofing" the pins. Little darlings like to play with my pins & spread them allover the house1 My badge lanyard from when I worked at the big "B". Mr S thought this silver etched tray was a pizza pan. Imagine my surprise when he took it out of the oven! Lots of silver picture frames. Dad with my first cat Lucky. Joanna & Sam. This & That

Here are Bella & Puma in the snow for the first time. They are inside cats, so this was quite an adventure for them. I started this table topper when Joanna & I went to The Granary for Friday Night Sew. It is the center of a table runner pattern. CIQ has a Christmas luncheon every year & you can make a small quilted item to exchange. It is now quilted & ready to go. I also cut out & sewed the rows together for one of the Twister projects. I am going to make a the cover quilt & teach a class at Aunt Mary's.Cathy Mathis taught a class through CIQ for these lovely Folk Art snowflakes. A new sewing experience for me & very fun to make. Especially adding button from Great Grandma's button box. I forgot I had taken this. It's the Golden Gate Bridge (squint & you might see it) & Alcatraz as I was leaving from Oakland. Hope everyone has a very nice Thanksgiving. We are packing up dinner & going into Dad's. Our driveway is too sloped & icy to try & have him here. Keeping my fingers crossed that Friday will be a little warmer so I can deliver some quilts.

Sun & Fun

I forgot to take my camera on Friday to The Granary, sorry no pictures of the fun from the quilt shop. Here's Little Mister in the pants I made for him. In case you were wondering, that's a kaleidoscope in his pocket. He struck several "poses" for me(mostly blurry because he's always moving) before I go this one. Frog boots go with everything, don't you think?
Saturday Joanna & I went to Niles, by ourselves. What a treat! The weather was incredible, 75 degrees & sunny!We went to Tyme For Tea & had the traditional tea lunch.
Pumpkin scones.Lovely sandwiches & a little dessert. She's still feeling a little puny, but really wanted to get out & do something. Can't think of a better way to spend my day!Today it was off to the Farmer's Market in Fremont. Piles of persimmons.The biggest pomegranates I've ever seen.Mounds of peppers & humongo cabbages!
These eggplants got grilled with some tomatoes & were made into the best grilled sandwiches for our lunch.We have to go to the crepe place. Little Mister striking his famous "cheese" pose waiting with Nana.The strawberry nutella crepe. Delicious!Can you tell that he liked it?I'll try & add some links when I get home . Tomorrow I spend the day with Little Mister while everyone else is at work. Yippee! Soaking up as much sun as I can before heading home early Tuesday. Time goes by so fast when I'm here.

Call Me Crazy

So here I am less than an hour from heading out to catch the Airporter & I'm posting to my blog. It has been awhile since I posted last. Busy quilting like crazy! This Christmas cross quilt was made by Diane. In fact I think this is her 3rd. I tried out a new "snowflake" on the border.

Sue did this Alaska quilt with Alaska themed fabric & Lisa Moore's pattern. I know I have this pattern somewhere. Guess I better get looking! Sue's border. Roxanne designed another beautiful quilt. She wanted simple quilting. Allover in the middle, separate borders. It was a fun one to quilt.

Still have a couple things to do before I'm off to Nanaland. Joanna & I will be going to The Granary tomorrow night for Friday Night Sew. I'll take some pictures of the shop & the "gang" while I'm there.

Things I've Been Sewing

I took a class back in July from Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill at the Quiltmaker's Shoppe. I finally finished the purse using leftover strips from an April Cornell line. Did all the quilting on my domestic machine. Easier than loading something so small on the long arm! New corduroy pants for Little Mister with big pockets for "stuff". A friend had them all cut out in her "collection". Thanks Diane for passing them along. This is future sewing. Joanna wants a "sassy" winter coat. I think I can "make it work". Taking the patterns with me & hopefully will find some great fabric! A quick shout out & Thank You! to my Secret Pal who surprised me with this last week. A gift certificate to Stanwood Cupcakes! Yum! Last night I went to the beach & saw these. Hmmmm, what were red roses doing at the beach? Then I saw some of these. Some of them said "I love you Mom" & "Goodbye Shirley".

Wherever "Shirley's" family is, your wishes landed on one of the prettiest places I know. The next pictures are what I saw after I found the balloons & roses.

Always a great way to end my day at the beach & sometimes full of surprises.

It's countdown time again. Time for some serious, double time quilting! this is Miss Jennifer's Blooming 9-patch. Love the colors! This is part of a little Mariner's Compass from Christine. Joy's quilt for her daughter. First time she's ever had anything quilted.

Jonne's sweet flannel quilt for #4 grandson. Also Jonne's, I think for her DD's MIL. Cutest panel I've seen in Christmas this year. Colleen's Night Before Christmas. You can't go wrong with one of Crabapple Hill's designs. I even quilted something for myself this past week. I'll show you later today.

Hi everyone. It's been along time since Nana let me talk to you. I got a nice haircut on Sunday with Papa. He thinks I look like I'm 4. This is my new face I make whenever anyone wants to take my picture. I'm really enjoying being 2! Can you see what the button on my rocking chair says? "Big Brother" Mama wanted me to wear it, but I was having none of that. Did I mention I like being 2? Oh man, I just might have to think of some new tricks so Nana pays attention to me after that baby gets here in the spring. Hmmmmmm, let's see? So long for now. I think I'm supposed to be in bed.
Little Mister

Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilt Sew Day

So here we are half way through the day. Quilts with bindings on the table & everyone busy, busy. We started out with 25 quilts that needed binding. By the end of the day the bindings were all on (at least one side). Quilts got taken home to finish. Can't wait to see how many we have done by next Sew Day. Which is November 20th at Aunt Mary's. Maybe we'll see you there! Here I am with the finished quilts that got turned in. I think there are 12! I have 7 here at home. Almost time for another delivery! We also took on a special project for this Sew Day. Alanna Stone(sitting on the boxes in black) has a son, Michael, serving with the Army in Afghanistan. We decided to make care packages for them. As we spread the word the support poured out from our community. Discounted fabric from Over The Rainbow got made into pillowcases, several boxes of paperbacks, magazines, toothpaste & toothbrushes, top ramen, & AA batteries are just some of the things we packed into 18 flat rate boxes. Michael will share with his fellow soldiers. Michael if you get a chance to read this, know that we are all so grateful for your service to our country. We can't thank you enough! The other gals in the picture, left to right, are me,Cindy, Judeen & Linda. It was a very productive Sew Day. Thank you to everyone!

Not much else going on here. Waiting for the "big storm" they keep talking about. I see the sun peeking out now. Better get outside for awhile!

What I've Been Up To

The Senior Snohomish group makes strip pieced blocks for our Hero quilt group. I'm trying to mix it up a little & do different blocks with the. I re-cut them into wonky 9 patches & used Roxanne Carter's pattern for the sashing. It still needs 2 borders.
If you aren't doing anything on Saturday stop by the Senior Center in Stanwood & say HI. We'll be working on American Hero Quilts. These are the last 2 block for my BOM in my Girl's Night Out class with Roxanne Carter. Glad to have them done. Now all I have is the outer border to paper piece. You can kind of see it in the mini picture below the blocks. These are the last 2 Bunny Hill Snowman BOM blocks. They are faceless right now. I promise another photo shoot once they are done. Only 2 months to go! A little beach time tonight. I was so lucky to get this shot. Barely got out of the car, clicked the picture & it was gone. See you again soon!.......................Sharon

Mr S has a thing about numbers. Our anniversary is 2/2/2002(I think he did that so he wouldn't forget) & we share the same birthday 7/7 in different years. He asked me a while back if I'd like to go somewhere on 10/10. Of course I said yes. So off we went on Sunday to have lunch in Winthrop over the North Cascade Highway that runs through the North Cascades National Park.

The Skagit river was very high & wide. It had been raining cats & dogs a few days ago. It seemed we would luck out on this trip & get some decent weather. I spotted this waterfall across the valley & we stopped for a photo op. Not much color on the trees yet. Here's a closer look at the might Skagit. Ah, the first sign of color in Newhalem. Usually our last stop going over the pass. A little color & a waterfall in Newhalem. I wish I had sound here. It was incredible. We ate lunch at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery. They have great burgers & wraps. I had the Fish Taco Wrap. Yummy! Mr S loves his micro brew! We had some of this vine on the fence in Granite. I gets redder as the weather gets colder. On our way back we stopped at the lookout at the top of Washington Pass, elevation 5,477 feet. That's Liberty Bell. Sheer drop off in front of the fence. The switch back coming up the pass from the Winthrop side. Great views! Looking back towards Winthrop from the same lookout. A clear view of Liberty Bell.We stopped at Cascadian Farm for dinner, oops, I mean ice cream. Raspberry chocolate chip was my favorite!

Heading toward home we saw this elk herd at a wildlife viewing area between Rockport & Hamilton. What at treat. Some of them were bugaling. I think I've heard them do that once before when I was in Yellowstone. It was a great day. Hope everyone has a good week. Joanna has tomorrow off so keeping my fingers crossed that I can Skype with Little Mister.

Yes, I'm Still Quilting

This is a Mary C quilt using Roxanne Carter's Simple Dreams pattern. I used one of the new pantos from Ann Bright, Blooming Feathers, on it. This is a cute batik quilt from Leslie. Bush Berries & Purple Haze variegated thread brought it all together. I have some great pictures from yesterday's trip with Mr S to post later. See you then.

Cupcake Crazy

Last night I drove into Stanwood to check out the new cupcake store. They were going to be open from 5-8 p.m. Isn't their logo great? Regular hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 am - 6 pm. The line was barely out the door when I got there. I was told that earlier it went all the way down the block to the train tracks! How crazy is that? So sorry to whoever you are in the window bending over. There were only a few cupcakes left in the display case by the time I got there. Two lonely mini sample cupcakes were all that was left. The owner said they made 300 cupcakes & they were gone after an hour & a half. Here they are the owners, Cyndy & David Thompson, still smiling after scooping non-stop for a couple of hours. The ice cream they are serving is Cascade Glacier. I had the Denali Moose Tracks, chocolate wonderful! When I left there was no sign of the line letting up. There were a lot of families, which was nice. I didn't get a chance to sample any of the cupcakes. They had at least a half dozen on display to show some of the flavor offerings. Sorry, no picture. You'll just have to take my word on that one. Their promo postcard says "Stanwood Cupcakes will feature 6 daily scrumptious cupcakes & seasonal specials." If you are out & about be sure to stop in & give them a try.

I promise to have some quilt pictures before the weekend is over. Mr S & I are going to Winthrop tomorrow for lunch. I'm hoping to see some fall color & maybe a little of (dare I say it?) snow.

Happy To You

When I got here on Thursday Little Mister nearly knocked me over at the airport! That's the best greeting this Nana could ask for! On Saturday he & his Dad went to Livermore to an open house at the airport & there was also an air show. Once he saw the ear protectors they were on & not coming off! I think he was saying "cheese" just as I snapped this.

He waited at the window for "Papa" (his Dad) to get ready. When they left Joanna & I made a beeline for the quilt store. It was a good day for everyone!This is a cake decorating book put out by Baker's Coconut from 1959. It was in the cupboard when I cleaned out Dad's house. I remember Mom making some of the cakes in this for us. Does anyone else remember having this book? What kid likes coconut? The designs inside are cute, well at least some of them. Read on.
Obviously these kids were called the "Cut-up kids" for a reason. Check out their arms. A little disturbing if you ask me. Where are their hands? Looks more like chainsaw massacre!
There was a dandy turtle. SIL has a pet turtle & it was one of Andrew's first words. Perfect!
Nothing fancy, just a Happy Birthday turtle for Little Mister.
I think he liked it!
Time is going by way too fast. Tomorrow will be gone before I know it & I'll be on the plane home on Tuesday morning.

I almost forgot. Happy To You is the part of the Happy Birthday song that Andrew sings. I'm trying to get a video. We'll see how that works out. After all, he is 2 now.

The Dress

Here's a side/back view of the dress. Stacy's future MIL hand sewed on all those satin covered buttons! That should earn her some major points! Here's another view. It was quite the process blending 2 patterns together to make a young bride's dream dress. I finished all of the quilts I need to take with me & am mostly packed. I guess it's been really hot in Fremont, 100 degrees a couple days ago! This Nana doesn't dare. Can't wait to see the Birthday Boy!

She made it as a wedding gift for a very lucky granddaughter. I got a call from her yesterday. She loved the quilt so much it made her cry. I've never had that happen before & was sorry I couldn't give her a hug. Thank you Barb for doing such beautiful work that inspires me to do what I love!

She talked about feathers in this space. I'm better at leaves, so a leaf wreath seemed perfect. The borders are sometimes a challenge for me. I think I need a pedicure. She found the pattern in this book from 1988! Got a chuckle when I read who the publisher was. I also has this come in the mail last week. I saw the frowny face & wondered what that was all about. The message inside was "Rain , Rain go away. Better go to a movie!" I can do that. Thank you Secret Pal for the nice surprise! Hmmm, a self made card. Who could it be? I still have a couple quilts to wrap up before take off tomorrow to Nanaland. It's hard to believe our Little Mister is 2 already. I'll be sure & post while I'm there.

The Cupcakes Are Coming!

Last week I was driving here. Down the street from this. And saw this. Be still my beating heart! I almost had to pull the car over. Could it really be a Cupcake Store? A closer look & yes they are going to have hard ice cream too. Dad craves hard ice cream sometimes & this will be a close place to take him. Joanna & I are crazy about cupcakes. In case you haven't guessed where it's at yet, it's in downtown Stanwood. Down the street from the police station. I'll keep you updated on when they will open.

Vintage Valentine

This is Dorothy B's beautiful Vintage Valentine quilt. She is one of the CIQ queens of applique. Isn't it divine? I had a lot of fun quilting it. Lots of "swirly girly" going on in the blocks. If you want to see the pattern click here.
